FERNANDO MARANTE

Fernando_Marante.jpg

Born in 1973, Fernando Marante is a visual artist whose experimental work explores the effects of time in the construction of the photographic image. Fernando’s quest is an attempt to reveal visually, outside the territory of language, something whose existence is only a speculation, to unveil the hypothesis-images which remain invisible in between two points of time.

Through movement, the artist uses time as a tool to formally play on variation, multiplication and addition, contraction and distension, accumulation and disaggregation. He creates images that are maps of intentions, visual fingerprints of all the decisions taken during the photographic process.

Fernando studied photograghy at Ar.Co – Centro de Arte & Comunicação Visual in Lisbon from 2013 to 2019, where he won two scholarships, sponsored by Leonor and António Parreira and by the Victor e Graça Carmona e Costa Foundation.
